How
Does It Work?
With dial-up, the text and graphics
that make up web pages get sent from the server to you
over your phone line. Because of the large amount of data
required to be sent, this process can be slow.
SlipStream’s
Web Accelerator compresses this data using a proprietary
technology, and sends it over your existing dialup phone
line. This compression process allows a smaller amount
of data to be sent – up to six times less – making
the download time of your web pages and your online experience
that much faster. As an added download time reducer, the
SlipStream
Web Accelerator stores elements of the web sites you visit
frequently, eliminating the need to re-download them every
time you visit these sites.
What get’s accelerated?
To achieve the fastest web and email acceleration available,
lossless compression is applied to text, html,
xml, javascript and style sheets. Image compression
is applied to gif images, jpeg images and Flash content.
SlipStream also accelerates email traffic, and is compatible
with any mail client, including Outlook Express, Eudora
and Netscape Mail.
So this all sounds good, how do I get started?
Step One: Call NetHere at 888-638-4373 to
sign up for service, existing customers are welcome to boost
their service by continuing with the following steps. Please
remember the service is only available to California customers.
Step Two: Download and install
the SlipStream Web Accelerator software. The software is
small and should take less than a minute to download. You
can download the software for your Macintosh or Windows computer.
